About  me

Often the oldest memories tell the clearest stories. For many years I carried with me the memory of a presentation I had to give to my eighth grade class. I remember standing in front of my class and not being able to get a word out. I ran out of the class crying , feeling humiliated and embarrassed. For years I avoided speaking in front of groups and chose to work with kids rather than with adults. I played it safe not because I chose to but because I was too scared to do anything else. Being safe had become a rationalization for staying stuck and not moving forward. While I continued to pursue my education and career I resisted taking charge of my own career path. Speaking in front of groups, leading projects, giving lectures, pushing agendas was always just out of reach. I took all the courses and got my degrees but, during the early part of my career, I remained in my comfort zone rather than move forward and grow.

My early experience lead me to dedicate myself to developing ways to teach people how to move ahead and not get stuck. I strongly believe that  there are skills that can be learned to get you beyond blocks in your work, career or personal life.

Most of us share the feeling that in spite of our abilities and ambitions there is something pulling us down. We are constantly hearing an inner voice that leads to hesitation, procrastination, burnout, avoidance and denial. A voice that, despite all evidence to the contrary, tells us what we can not do and what we can not master. The first step in moving  forward is acknowledging that voice. This does not happen over night but does not necessarily require long protracted therapy. What I have learned is that through body awareness and an empathic attitude towards our self we can learn to listen differently to those inner voices that block us. For me, changing was a process.
